The down low on 3 sure fire ways to prevent HIV
infection
You can't tell a HIV infected person by looking at them.
Sometimes, a HIV infected person won't tell you that they are infected. Other
times, they may not realize that they are infected. Don't put yourself at risk.
Please think about what you are doing and please be careful.
- Do not have anal, oral, or vaginal sex with
anyone unless you know their HIV status. This means that the two of you
should get tested for HIV infection before having sex. While this may not
seem practical or romantic, it may save your life.
- If your partner has ever had anal, oral or vaginal sex
with anyone else, use a latex condom each and every time you have sex
with this person. Later, if both of you test negative for HIV infection,
the use on condoms is at your discretion.
Unprotected intercourse exposes you to the risk of unwanted pregnancy and
other sexually transmitted diseases.
If you are allergic to latex, use polyurethane condoms.
- IV drug users should never share needles with others.
Always use a new needle.
