• When Is She Too Old To Have A Baby?

It's happening world wide.. through the use of assisted reproduction - egg freezing, egg donation and in vitro fertilization - women are having babies in the 50's, 60's and 70's.

In the Bible, menopausal Sarah gave birth to Isaac at the age of 90 years. She then lived to be 127 years. And we Christians celebrate this as a great act of God of doing the seemingly impossible.

In the USA, while still a small percentage of women - an increasing number of women over the age of 40 are having babies. In 2013, 677 women in the USA over fifty years gave birth. For one third of these women, this was their first birth.* With enough money, it is often easier with less bureaucratic red tape to give birth via assisted reproduction than it is to adopt a child.

One has to wonder, does this make sense? As a society concerned about the welfare of children, women and men should we have a say in determining when she is too old to have a baby?
